Given the outstanding success of Amba Foundation in its education and health programmes, it was chosen by the Delhi Government in to participate in its welfare programmes. Since January 2009, Amba Foundation has been running a Gender Resource Centre and Suvidha Kendra in the Joshi Colony area of East Delhi, in partnership with the Delhi Government. This project targets a vulnerable/most vulnerable population of about 1 lakh persons.

The GRC project aims at holistic development and empowerment of women and young girls. Under this project, the centre provides vocational training, health-care facilities and legal counseling to women. Provision of Non-formal Education and formation of Self-Help Groups are also integral components of this initiative. A distinctive feature of the Amba Foundation GRC is the fact that all the workers employed under it are women. Its significance lies in the fact that as women, they have an experiential understanding of the needs of the concerned group.

The Suvidha Kendra seeks to streamline access to government welfare schemes and entitlements. Under this project, vulnerable households are identified and provided assistance in accessing and acquiring such benefits.
